Alarm Bells Ringing Over Latest UK Slot Limits
Under the current guidelines shaping the new UK Casino sector only the very biggest classification of 'regional' casinos will get the Category A unlimited jackpot machines, leaving the vast majority of existing operators with a lobbying task of colossal proportions.
Ratios of two slots each table and caps of 80 machines in the 'smalls' leaves them somewhat featherweight, whilst 'large' have barely gained more with caps of 150 on a 5:1 ratio. With current B limitations of just £2000, never have the communication channels between operator and government needed to be more open.
Penelope Cobham, chairman of the British Casino Association, spoke for the majority with her assessment. "This is a massive lost opportunity," she warned. "At a stroke, the government has decimated the regeneration potential of the Bill, ensuring the absence of investment being evenly spread across the country."
