Coventry's Super Casino Chances Fading

Coventry's chances of winning Government approval for a super casino are fading by the day, according to a senior member of Birmingham City Council's cabinet.
Ken Hardeman, who holds the regeneration portfolio and is a leading supporter of Birmingham City Football Club's bid for a casino, insisted intense lobbying of MPs by backers of the Coventry scheme would make no difference.
He said Birmingham remained confident that an attempt to secure a casino at the Ricoh stadium, home of Coventry City FC, would not meet a Government stipulation that American-style gaming centres must drive economic regeneration.
