Punters Think Granit Is Rock Solid For Supreme Novices
Paul Nicholls' Granit Jack, who won for the first time in the UK at Taunton last week, has come in for some considerable support for the Anglo Irish Bank Supreme Novices' hurdle.
The five year old, who had previously been beaten at prohibitive odds, holds an entry for three novice events at the festival but with his trainer Paul Nicholls confirming that the two mile festival curtain raiser is his intended target punters have lumped on at all prices from 33-1 down to 20-1 with William Hill.
William Hill spokesman Ben Clarke added: "Granit Jack disappointed in his first two races before having a break and outclassing the opposition at Taunton over a two and a half miles last week. Paul Nicholls has been quite upbeat about his prospects at the festival and feels that a drop back to two miles will suit him and punters have quite literally been lumping on him all day. We are now 20-1 for the Supreme Novices' but with the money continuing to come for him he is likely to be a lot shorter come race time."
