Trade Bodies Merge To Form Remote Gambling Association
The two trade bodies representing interactive gaming and gambling companies have merged to become the Remote Gambling Association.
The Association of Remote Gambling Operators (ARGO) and the Interactive Gaming, Gambling and Betting Association (IGGBA) agreed the move to form a single industry voice as online gambling begins to establish itself as a mainstream activity.
The move comes into force on 1 August and membership will be open to companies and software suppliers which operate in Europe, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
Richard Flint, chairman of the IGGBA and MD of Skybet, said the consolidation would bring benefits for members of both organisations.
"Our aim is to provide a single voice for the industry that is well respected and credible," he said. "Collectively, we have a strong pedigree of experience and knowledge which will ensure that we achieve this goal."
The RGA will be led by chief executive Clive Hawkswood, who is currently general secretary of ARGO.
Ian Spearing, group director of William Hill, is currently chairman of ARGO.
