Casino Refuses £1 Coin

Last updated: 13/03/2008 16:27

A casino is refusing to accept £1 coins at its gambling tables after being saddled with a mountain of fakes.

A source at the Gala Riverboat in Glasgow said crooks had handed over hundreds of forgeries every night. "The fake coins have also been discovered at dog tracks, shops, post offices and the Barras market. Sources close to the notorious Daniel crime family have made up to 500,000 of the coins and are using a team of handlers to distribute them."

Gala refused to comment but police confirmed they were aware of forged coins being used at the Riverboat.
