The Punter: a free betting newspaper for London

A new gambling paper has been launched in London.

Part of the free newspaper distribution network, The Punter will be handed out in the city centre every Friday.

Launched by City AM, a free daily newspaper aimed at London s business commuters, The Punter will contain betting tips and coverage of sporting events including horse racing, football, cricket, rugby, poker and tennis. Also featured will be betting articles and odds on one-off events and celebrity or novelty bets.

Former horse trainer Charlie Brooks teamed up with City AM to launch the new publication, which is sponsored by Betfair, Ladbrokes and IG Sport.

Backers hope the launch of the free paper will bring the joys of betting to a wider audience.

City AM is currently distributed to around 95,000 readers.
