Stuck for an idea for your dissertation?

Slot machines are making their mark on British academia. The University of Salford already has a Centre for the Study of Gambling, so the new addition comes as little surprise.

Dr Jonathan Parke, who has a PhD in the Psychology of Fruit Machine Gaming, will be a senior lecturer and researcher.

He aims to shed light on gambling as a serious topic for research, which should be used to inform government policy.

Dr Parke enjoys playing poker online and in live games and has won several tournaments.
