Casino of the month
Las Vegas Sands Ltd have submitted a planning application to build an entertainment complex, including a casino on land in Stadium Park.
Details were announced on safc.com, Sunderland's official website, today and include a luxury hotel, a sports bar, a casino and a mixture of other bars and restaurants.
The benefits to the region are beyond doubt, with more than 1200 full-time permanent jobs, as well as about 500 jobs in building the complex.
It is thought this development will occur on land adjacent to the South Stand, currently industrial buildings, although it could well be elsewhere, for example on a car park.
