The most expensive truffle in history was auctioned off this week in a celebrity-studded charity bidding that took place simultaneously in London, Macau and Florence.
The giant white truffle, the most sought-after kind, weighed in at 1.5kg and went for $330,000.
Stanley Ho, proprietor of the Macau Casino Lisboa, outbid artist Damien Hirst to take home the culinary monster. Ho held a monopoly over Macaus gambling industry for 35 years, and is the wealthiest person in the small Chinese region.
The International Tuscan Truffle Auction is held every year to raise money for charity.
