Lottery Grant For A New Village Hall
Broom residents were thrilled as a Lottery grant of £102,000 was awarded to the village hall.
Representatives from the Big Lottery Fund announced on Tuesday the amount they were donating to the construction of a new purpose built village hall in Broom.
Villagers have used the 1930's wooden hut as a village hall since it was handed over by he Women's Institute in 2002.
The amount of people using the village hall has increased over the last two years as the committee has organised some popular events such as barbecues and dinners and has seen these nights bring people from the community together.
The committee hopes to built a new building within the next 12 months and have a kitchen and youth facility.
Chairman Bob Slaughter from the village committee said: "We are ecstatic over this the news. We applied for the money back in January and now hope to build a brand new hall with facilities everyone can use."
The committee hopes to raise £100,000 with donations from Warwickshire county council and Stratford district council to help meet the cost of rebuilding a new village hall.
