Tomb Raider - One Of Microgaming's Most Popular Games
We give you the verdict on Tomb Raider - one of Microsoft's most popular progressive jackpot slot games.
Tomb Raider is Microgaming's first game to use an existing, established brand to provide a game theme.
The animation that introduces the game is really good. It sets the scene for the game perfectly. The animation of the icons is also great. When you hit the wild symbol, Lara dives scross the icon as the sound of gunshots rings in your ears. And when you get two or more scatter symbols, the animation zooms right in to her eyeballs.
That said, a few more Tomb Raider icons, rather than the playing card-based icons used for the lower-paying symbols, would also have been nice.
The sounds are very well done and really add to the feeling of being in an underground tomb. The reels sound like stone rubbing aginst stone as they spin. There is a constant low growling sound in the background as if in an earthquake is about to begin, and the sound effects on each win are great. When you trigger the 'idols' bonus feature, there is a drumroll and the cavern is filled with the background sound of dripping water and bats screeching.
Tomb Raider has two bonus features, a wild symbol and a scatter symbol.
The free spins feature is triggered by three or more scatter symbols. You get ten free spins where all wins are tripled.
The second bonus feature is triggered by getting three or more 'bonus' symbols. In the feature you get to pick as many idols as you had symbols. Each idol has a value hidden inside it that varies from 12 to 500 coins.
The maximum payout is 37,500 coins if you play the maximum five coins per line, but this could be trippled should you hit the win in the free spins feature.
