Woman Receives $1 Million Powerball Prize
Patricia A. Rich of Langhorne, Bucks County, matched all five white balls but not the red Powerball in the April 22, 2006 Powerball drawing. Rich's ticket, purchased with the PowerPlay multiplier option, is worth $1 million, less 25 percent federal withholding.
Lottery officials today presented Rich with her winnings at Trevose Beer & Soda, located at 550 Andrews Road in Trevose, Bucks County, where she purchased her winning ticket.
Rich was the only Pennsylvania winner who matched all five numbers in the April 22 Powerball drawing. Matching 5-of-5 white ball numbers without the red Powerball number - second prize in the Powerball game - is normally worth $200,000. However, players who purchased the PowerPlay option for the April 22 drawing saw their winnings multiply five times, since five was the PowerPlay number randomly selected prior to that night's drawing.
Rich selected her own Powerball ticket numbers using her children's and grandson's birth dates.
Trevose Beer & Soda received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Last May, the store sold a top prize-winning ticket to a Feasterville woman in the LUCKY FOR LIFE LOTTO game. That ticket was worth $3,000 a month for life.
