City Leader Fights Casino Plans

The leader of Nottingham City Council is trying to block plans for another casino over fears about noise.
The first floor of the Glasshouse on Huntingdon Street was intended to be a Bingo hall - but now the developers want to change that into a Casino.
Jon Collins, who is also the ward councillor, said this would cause too much disruption in the early hours.
But Nottinghamshire Police and planners have no objections. The matter will be decided at a meeting in two weeks.
The Glasshouse is being developed primarily as student accommodation.
The proposed venue is not part of the national plans for a series of super casinos.
