Tolkien House Gets Lottery Cash
A school house with links to JRR Tolkien is to be restored after it was given a £50,000 grant.
The house in Warwick is next to a church where the Lord of the Rings author married Edith Bratt in 1916.
Tolkien memorabilia will feature in an exhibition at the house once the restoration is completed.
The building in West Street and next to the Catholic Church of St Mary Immaculate was given the grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Restoration on the building, which has been used as a parish hall, includes work to the roof, windows and boundary walls as well as improvements to the kitchen and other facilities.
As well as featuring Tolkien, an exhibition will focus on past pupils and teachers at the school, war memories and Catholic Martyrs of Warwick.
