Perfectly Horrible Fun This Christmas

Last updated: 13/03/2008 17:49

Bored with Christmas presents that don't hold attention beyond Christmas day? Do you know children with inquisitive minds who just love to get their hands dirty? If this sounds familiar, then look no further than the new Horrible Science kits from Living & Learning for an ideal gift this Christmas.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Horrible Science, Living & Learning has created nine new bags of tummy-turning, gravity-defying, optically-awesome and wickedly-weird experiments. These have been developed to help children understand how their bodies function, how the universe works, as well as explore the forces of nature. Basic practical science is presented in a fearsomely fun yet factual way.

Based on Scholastic's best selling Horrible Science books written by Nick Arnold and illustrated by Tony De Saulles, the kits present science with a truly horrible twist to make it interesting and fun.

The nine bags include - Bulging Brains, Eerie Eyeball, Heaving Heart, Slimy Slugs, Spooky Stars, Violent Volcano, Weird Worms, Shocking Rocket and Crazy Cars. Priced around £4.99, these bags make ideal stocking fillers and contain items needed for the experiments along with a 'Horrible Info' leaflet. The bags are suitable for children between 5 and 10 years old.

Other items in the range include three mid-sized box kits - Space, Stars & Slimy Aliens, Deadly Dinosaurs and Scary Sight - providing a multitude of items (including the likes of 'slobsnot' and 'petrified poo') to amuse and entertain. A 16-page booklet packed with fascinating facts accompanies each kit. The kits are priced at around £9.99 and are suitable for children between 5 and 10 years old.

The two large box kits of Horrible Science are also available - Blood Bones and Body Bits and Explosive Experiments. Both contain six experiments that will churn you stomach and blow your mind! Each kit also offers lab note booklets packed with useful tips, advice and safety information as well as some mad facts to astound, amaze and revolt even those with the strongest of stomachs! These kits are priced at around £14.99 and are suitable from 5+ and 10+ years old.

With bodily functions, creepy crawlies, geographical science and mad motors, there's something for every 'horrible' little Einstein this Christmas.

The Horrible Science kits are available now from Woolworths, John Lewis, Toys R Us, The Entertainer, Gamleys, Toymaster Stores, Youngsters Stores or you can get them online from Amazon.
