888 Dismisses Casino Threat From PartyGaming

John Anderson, chief executive of online gambling group 888 Holdings, yesterday played down the challenge posed by PartyGaming's expansion into casino games such as blackjack.
888's revenues from casino games in the fourth quarter of 2005 were $41m, up 19% on 2004 but below the figure reported last week by PartyGaming. Mr Anderson said: "It's not a threat, but it is competition and we expect that in an open market."
Helped by more than doubled revenues from Online Poker - it owns Pacific Poker - 888's total fourth-quarter revenues were $77m (£43m), making $271m for the whole of 2005.
