The Countdown To Galway Continues
The atmosphere around galway is reaching fever pitch, as both locals and annual pilgrims get ready for the bumper seven day racing carnival at Ballbrit.
William Hill have reported strong support for Kinger Rocks in Thursday's Guinness Galway Hurdle. The Dermot Weld mare, was slashed from 6-1 to 9-2 after a flurry of hefty wagers on the five year old. Another horse that was backed for Thursday's feature was Eoin Doyle's, The Fonze, who was cut by William Hill from 25-1 into 16-1.
Tony Kenny, William Hill's Irish spokesman said "Kinger Rocks, was friendless in the betting until this afternoon. Prior to today we hadn't laid a penny on the mare, but just after twelve o'clock today, we were forced to cut the five year old from 6-1 into 9-2. During the week Dermot said he was undecided about the participation of the mare in Thursday's feature, but if money talks she'll be there."
In the Galway plate on Wednesday, race sponsors William Hill reported another busy day of trading. No horse has been cut today, because of the wide spread of money coming for various horses in the 2 mile 6F contest.
Tony Kenny, from the sponsors said "There are a lot of different horses being backed in the race, but Ansar is still by far the biggest loser in our book."
