Councillors Want Seaside Casino
| UK Casino Times > Casino News 02 March 2006 Councillors Want Seaside Casino Councillors have voted in favour of a UK casino to be built on the Lincolnshire coast. East Lindsey district councillors agreed the authority should bid for a licence, with possible towns earmarked including Skegness or Mablethorpe. The council has opted to put in a bid for a small UK casino after a vote on Wednesday evening. The government will issue licences for one super casino, eight large sites and eight smaller developments in Britain. A council spokesperson said the development would bring more jobs and extend the tourist season in the region. Some residents have argued the casino would encourage gambling and would not be in keeping with the family image of the county's coast. The authority will now consult with partner organisations on the proposals. |
