Public Consulted Over Casino Plan
Plans for a multi-million pound casino in a Nottinghamshire town are to be put before residents.
Mansfield District Council has expressed an interest in bidding to host one of 17 new casinos in the UK.
Before putting in a formal application, the council wants to get the views of residents and has launched an online questionnaire to encourage this.
The deadline is 24 March and a special meeting to discuss the results will be held on 27 March, 2006.
Executive Mayor Tony Egginton said: "We would like to know if residents are for or against the principal of having a casino in Mansfield, not the pros and cons of a casino at a particular site. Discussions on possible locations will come later if the council ultimately decides to take the bid forward and if the bid is successful. This is a very important issue for the district and it is vital that the council takes on board the opinions of as many people as possible before taking forward the bid."
