Blackjack Tips
Playing blackjack can be a great way to make some serious money. Follow these simple tips to increase your chances of walking away with a profit.
Stand - If the dealer's upcard is 3,4,5, or 6, then stand on 12 or higher.
Hit - If the dealer's upcard is 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King or Ace then hit at 16 and lower.
Tens - Never split two tens, two picture cards or two fours no matter what the dealer is showing.
Aces and 8s - Always split Aces and 8s; the former because it doubles your chances of getting 21 and the latter because the alternative is to hit on 16, which will most likely bust your hand.
On the side - The insurance side bet is a big risk - play it if you fancy adding a bit of additional excitement to the game, just don't expect to win.
Keep your cool - Stay sober and don't take unnecessary risks, because you're either bored or the table turns cols. For example, don't double your stake just because you've lost your last four hands.
Stash your stack - Be prepared to split and double down as the odds dictate. Don't leave yourself short stacked for this reason, and don't bottle it - you need to make the most of the odds when they are in your favour.
Double down - Always double down with a total of 11, except when the upcard is an Ace. And double down on a ten against anything but a ten, Jack, Queen or king.
Play your own hand - Don't Worry about what other players are doing. Technically, their actions do affect the order of the cards but you will always get both good and bad players in the casino.
Don't be afraid of change - If you don't like a particular table or dealer don't be afraid to leave. spend too long worrying about where you are, you don't spend enough time concentrating on the cards.
