Adele Adkins Rises
Adele Adkins is a nineteen year old who likes a drink and a smoke. She also likes boys a lot as well as celeb news. This may prove to be of some help as Adele has herself become a news item. She topped the census for Sound of 2008 held by the BBC. This singer-songwriter is charmingly unspoiled by all the attention she has been receiving.
19, her debut album, has gone to the top of the chart in the United Kingdom. This is during the album’s first week. Currently Adele’s Hometown Glory single is at number thirty two on the chart. The young performer has stated that her defining moment came unexpectedly when she was about fourteen years old.
At that age Adele decided that it was time to impress her peers. She went and bought CDs of Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. Not really interested she put them away and only listened to the CDs about a year later. Once she heard the voices and musical interpretations of these two great singers Adele was hooked. She wanted to sing like them.
That chance stumbling across Fitzgerald and James stood her in good stead. Her fans are spellbound by her own jazzy style. Her voice has the ability to move from sultry to joyful and everything in between. She also makes no secret of the fact that she thoroughly enjoyed the Spice Girls, East 17, Jill Scott and Eva Cassidy. But it was the jazz artists who gave her voice maturity.
Like a string of other successful singers and musicians Adele enrolled at the Brit performing arts school. This school has produced artists like Kate Nash, Katie Melua, Leona Lewis, Amy Winehouse as well as Kate and Hugh of the Kooks. In her cockney accent Adele loosely assures she’s not best mates with any of them.
The girl who reads Heat magazine does not want to behave shockingly herself. This new celeb wants to have a laugh. She did elaborate that if her life ever reached a point where she could not leave her front door she would quit. She said she loved music but that her life was more of a priority to her. Her coping mechanism would be to leave the business until she had been forgotten.
