Poker Player of the Year named as David Pham
David Pham came to the US from Vietnam at the age of 17, hoping to make a better life for himself. Fast forward 23 years and he has certainly done that, with estimates of his total poker winnings reaching $6 million.
And to top it off, he has just been crowned Poker Player of the Year 2007. Pham recently won the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, Event 8, held at the Las Vegas Bellagio. He took first place and $279,000.
But its not the first time he has won the title, the first time round being in 2000.
Only a handful of players have been named Player of the Year more than once, including Phams cousin Men Nguyen, who apparently coached Pham. Whether its in the genes, or simply their determination to win, these two players have had very successful poker careers.
David The Dragon Pham has had a good poker year, making it to 11 final tables and winning over $1.8 million in tournaments. He has also racked up 2 WSOP bracelets over the years.
Player of the Year runner-up was named as J.C. Tran, with Jonathan Little in third place and Scott Clements in fourth.
