Glastonbury Festival Tickets Up For Registration
The Glastonbury festival authority sets a deadline for fans to register for tickets when they are up for grabs in April this year.
The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, best known for its mud-covered revelers, is the destination for music fans making their way in the hundreds of thousands every year. The overwhelming response which the Glastonbury Festival witnesses has made its authority declare the conservation of tickets this year as they did last year. Organizer Michael Eavis reports the grand success of last years efforts in pre-registering the huge population of fans so as to ease administration.
It is in reference to what he calls the success story of the previous year that Michael Eavis wants to pursue the endeavor this year as well. The organizer has set up deadlines, by the end of February 2008, when the fans and the wannabe participants of the festival should register, whereby they will get a fair preference over others when the tickets are up for grabs in April. The festival is due to be held June 27-29.
I agree it is a tedious business, but people appreciate why were doing it reports Michael Eavis. He further adds that the procedure was a success last year and it is nothing but a measure to overcome problems that might otherwise occur when the tickets go on sale in April. Michael Eavis is hopeful because they did it last year and it was perfect. I think most people who are really determined to come find a way, don't they, or they try harder? he adds. He refers to the previous years performance of fans, where over 400,000 people vied for 137,500 tickets. However, Eavis holds that it's only the people who are half-hearted about it that don't pursue the chase for a ticket.
Michael Eavis is expectant that the proceedings will never put off real fans. On the contrary, he is of the opinion that if he had not found a way to beat the touts, he would rather have dropped the idea of hosting the festival any further. However, our very own Mr. Organizer is not to be deterred. The fans, who want to attend the festival, are requested to present their contact details along with a passport-sized photograph and thereby get a due privilege over others when tickets are put on sale later this year. Forms are available from camping shop Millets or directly register at the official website of Glastonbury. Registration closes 29 February, midnight.
Although Mr. Eavis did not name any line-ups for the festival, he shared with us his little secret of putting on a black American headliner, who's absolutely terrific, that's going to appeal to young people. He also disclosed his expectation of Amy Winehouse performing at the coveted festival. He comments, when asked about Amy, I hope so, I really, really do need her. The festival also is planning to encourage new talents through a talent competition that will be judged by Emily, Mr. Eavis daughter. Emily says, I am sure we will be able to find some incredible new bands out there. It's great for the competition, and most importantly, it will be a great contribution to the festival, she adds.
More good news for fans of the cause Mr. Eavis also looks forward to creating more space for campers this year and in pursuit of this aim, he has talked to the local Mendip District Council.
