Betting on a White Xmas
As the run-up to Christmas enters the home strait, and festive madness intensifies, bookies are taking bets on whether it will be a white Christmas in the UK.
Odds on London being covered by a white carpet on the 25th are 6/1 at William Hill, while Christmas snow in Scotland is more likely, at 4/1 for Glasgow and 7/2 for Aberdeen.
A white Christmas counts if as little as a single flake of snow falls on the city during the 24 hours of Christmas Day.
Other Christmas betting odds include exceeding the lowest recorded temperature (-26.1oC in England, -27.2oC in Scotland) and the somewhat unlikely possibility of Big Ben freezing solid and failing to chime (100/1).
