Celebs join charity poker match to raises thousands for the homeless

Stakes are rising as preparations get under way for Saturday’s Simon Poker Day, to be held in Dublin.

The charity match is hoping to raise €100,000 for the Simon homeless charity, doubling last year’s total of €50,000.

Donated prizes include a seat to next year’s Irish Poker Championship, worth €2,000, and entry to the Monte Carlo European Poker Tour, worth €10,000.

Plenty of stars have signed up for the tournament, including snooker champion Steve Davis, Ken Doherty and footballer Tony Cascarino.

Entry to the day, which will feature world-class poker players, costs €330 with €100 going to the Simon charity.
