18 Year Old Annette wins 1 million pounds
Norwegian Annette Obrestad made poker history at The Casino at The Empire in Leicester Square, London on 17th September when she won first prize of £1 million (over $2 million) at the first World Series Of Poker European final. Sponsor Betfair Poker made an infusion of cash which made this huge prize possible. In addition to the money, Annette gets an 18-karat gold and jewel-encrusted bracelet created by luxury Swiss watchmaker CORUM, the official timepiece of the WSOP. The average age of players at the Finals table was 24, and the oldest player, Theo, was only 35. Participants, in rank order, were Annette Obrestad, John (Kunkuwap) Tabatabai, Mathew McCullough, Oyvind Riisem, Johannes Korsar, Dominic Kay, Magnus Persson, Theo Jorgensen and James Keys.
