Can
Pietersen Power Hit Bookies For Six?
Bookies William
Hill have opened
the betting on which World Cup player will score the most
sixes in the World Cup, with England's Kevin Pietersen and
Australia's Adam Gilchrist their 10/3 favourites to take the
title.
William Hill also offer
5/1 for Jayasuriya, Ganguly and Chris Gayle with South
Africa's captain Graham Smith offered at 10/1.
"We know what a
destructive batsman Pietersen can be and he is a worthy
favourite to score the most sixes in the World Cup. But at
this early stage we punters seem to think West Indies opener
Chris Gayle is the value at 5/1," said William Hill's
spokesman Rupert Adams.
Ricky Ponting is the 7/2
favourite to score the most half centuries in the World Cup,
with Ian Bell the only English player to make it into the
running at 12/1.
