Hill have seen a
string of customers opening betting accounts purely to back
David Beckham to join American MLS club, LA Galaxy and
slashed their odds about the former England skipper joining
that side by the start of next season from 7/1 to
11/4.
"The average bet we have
been seeing on Becks joining LA has been over £100 - at
least twice what we would normally expect on a market of
this nature - and of those backing him to do so, 75% have
been brand new customers we have never seen before, all of
which just encourages us to believe that there may have been
contact between Beckham and the club, and therefore to slash
the odds about him going there" said William Hill's
spokesman Graham Sharpe.
The bookies have cut the
odds about Beckham joining any American MLS club from 9/4 to
5/4.
