Eustace Victory Hardy A Bad Thing
For Detroit Supporters
Hardy Eustace has been
slashed to once again win the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle
after virtually making all to win a thrilling AIG Europe
Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown.
Dessie Hughes' 10 year old
bounced back to somewhere near his best to hold off
defending champion Brave Inca by three lengths and was
immediately promoted to 5-1 third favourite, from 10, for
the Cheltenham race by William
Hill. While the
result is an obvious marker as to the relative chances of
both Brave Inca and Hardy Eustace it should also put a smile
on the faces of Detroit City's backers.
William Hill's Ben Clarke
explained: "Hardy Eustace's three length victory not only
puts him right back in the frame for the Champion Hurdle but
also gives a massive boost to the already impressive CV of
Detroit City. Both Fair Along and Afsoun have proven this
season that last years Triumph Hurdle was exceptionally good
and with Blazing Bailey and now Hardy Eustace taking two big
prizes in two days the form suggests that Detroit City is
something out of the ordinary."
