Vaughan Out With Torn
Hamstring
England captain Michael
Vaughan will miss Friday's game against Australia in
Brisbane with a torn hamstring.
He was hurt in the win
over New Zealand and discovered the results of a scan he had
in Hobart on Wednesday.
It is still unclear how
long the grade one tear will sideline the 32-year-old and a
reassessment is due to take place in the next 48
hours.
England fly to Brisbane on
Wednesday ahead of the third match in the triangular series
on Friday.
Spekaing before the scan,
Vaughan said of his chances of facing Australia: "If I am
honest, at the minute it is extremely doubtful. I've not had
a hamstring injury before and it is new to me in that I
don't know how they react overnight or what it will be like
getting on a plane."
Vaughan clutched the back
of his left leg in pain after running round from backward
point and turning sharply during New Zealand's
innings.
The 32-year-old required a
runner soon after coming out to bat and made 17 as England
clinched a three-wicket win - their first victory during the
tour of Australia.
He was playing only his
second one-day international after surgery to solve
career-threatening problems on his right knee.
The Yorkshire star was
forced to return home early from the winter tours of
Pakistan and India in 2005/6.
