Ladbrokes Eyes Vietnamese
Market
British bookmaker
Ladbrokes
is looking to provide betting and gaming football lottery
services in Vietnam to help control rampant illegal betting
on the country's premier football competition, the
V-League.
Kevin Hopgood, Ladbrokes'
manager in charge of international projects, visited Vietnam
last week to help both its Sports and Physical Training
Committee and its football governing body (VFF) to draw up
an initial draft of the country's football betting
project.
According to Hopgood
Vietnam presents a strong potential market for Ladbrokes -
it has a large population of over 83m, for which football is
the most popular sport. He commented: "We are here on the
invitation of the VFF and sports committee to discuss the
draft for the country's football lottery. This will be
useful for us if we are chosen to run business in Vietnam
later on."
