Bono: The Other Side

Some of his fans are using the adjective ‘hypocrite’ to describe Bono.  This is very surprising because Bono is one of the few rock musicians who seemed to be authentic. He is known as one of the most outspoken and generous of humanitarians.  He cares deeply about how he treats people who are suffering around the world.  He also treats his family with kindness and love.  Bono has been married to Ali for the past twenty six years.  There hasn’t been a hint of scandal.  He always gives the impression that he has the utmost respect for his wife.  But now it seems Bono isn’t unique.  He’s just like all the other rather weak-willed rock stars floating about on their self-inflated egos.  It appears Saint Bono’s halo is slipping and fast.

One week ago Bono was playing the perfect family man.  He accompanied his wife and children to the ultimate family destination – Disneyland.  This came after his holiday with Simon Carmody.  Carmody used to be in the Golden Horde band.  The two have been friends for many years.  They were in the South of France together.  Both Simon Carmody and Bono are Irish.  The two were photographed with a couple of nineteen year old girls.  The two teens seemed to revel in the attention they were getting from the ageing musicians and the media.  The one young girl is Andrea Fick and she is from the United States.  The other girl is Hannah Emerson from the United Kingdom. 

The teen girls wore bikinis as they spent time at a St Tropez beachfront bar.  Bono was snapped with his arm about one of the girls.  The two older men danced and drank with the teens aboard a yacht that is privately owned.  The American girl revealed she had met Bono a couple of years before.  She said they were just friends.  Admittedly, if they weren’t just friends, it would be plain creepy because he would have met her when she was about sixteen or seventeen.  The two girls and the older men had no problem putting on a bit of a show for the cameras.  Not the best way to show respect for your wife Bono. But then, you’re old enough to know that.       

The one girl is a party planner and the other is a second year student.  It’s not known whether or not Bono’s wife has seen the pictures.  If she hasn’t she soon will.  Ali is known to be an upright and balanced person.  She’s never been jealous of the time Bono spends away from her.  In fact, Bono himself described it as ‘creative time managed by Ali’.  Having to spend time with teenagers is rather sad but encouraging them to hang out with ageing married men is just weird.  Even if you do ask people to care about the poor in third world countries it doesn’t allow you to live by self-centred rules.  It would be a blow to many people if Bono really is just like most ageing rock stars.
