Online bingo ad censored on the Tube
An advert for online bingo has been banned by the London Undergound, who are concerned that it may cause offence to commuters.
The Paddy Power ad shows a man with a baby on his lap, trying to breastfeed, with the slogan: Where have all the women gone? - the idea being that all the women are off playing bingo.
A second bingo advert shows a Christmas dinner made up of chocolate, sweets and popcorn, with the same slogan.
Irish-based bookies Paddy Power have a reputation for controversial adverts. Another ad was banned in 2005 showing The Last Supper, with Jesus and his disciples sitting round a casino table.
Paddy Power has now set up their own site for punters to debate the issue. Critics range from those who see the ads as sexist, to others who are offended by the rather unattractive hairy chest. Paddy Power say they aim to encourage women to get into online bingo and casino games and to break gender stereotypes.
TV adverts for online gambling sites were only made legal earlier this year in the UK, so many companies are testing the waters.
