Ringo is a Star
Ringo Starr is promoting his new album titled Liverpool 8. The title song was to be performed during on the TV show ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’. This is the kind of exposure all musicians and performers want. The event was a collaborative effort between Starr’s publicist Elizabeth Freund and the show’s musical director. For some unknown reason there was miscommunication.
The result was that Ringo Starr did not perform Liverpool 8 and ended up leaving the show in protest. This was much to the disappointment of his many followers. Ringo is generally considered the most laidback of the Beatles and still has a sixties aura about him. He truly believes that all you need is love. But on the show he needed a little more. Ringo’s gripe was about timing. Elizabeth Freund and the show’s musical director got it all wrong.
The time allocated to the musician was two and a half minutes. The song Liverpool 8 takes over 4 minutes to perform. Ringo was not prepared to give a condensed version of his latest number. This experienced performer did cut one minute from the original four minutes and fifteen seconds. He graciously did this to accommodate the requirements of the show. According to Ringo’s publicist this was not good enough and show manager Michael Gelman wanted the performance to be under three minutes.
As far as Ringo was concerned he was not going any lower. The famous musician had been asked to perform with another rock legend Dave Stewart. He is of the opinion that the show was guilty of ‘disrespectful treatment of artists’. He felt it was not right that a musician of Starr’s status should play second fiddle to a chat about Ms Kelly Ripa’s physical attributes. The show’s spokesperson refused to comment.
Ringo made his exit like a gentleman rocker by bestowing good wishes. He parted with a ‘God bless and goodbye. We still love Regis.’ The bickering between the show and the publicist continued. There was much discussion by the show as to when, where and how long Ringo had played Liverpool 8 previously. Since then the performer has played his song in its entirety for Rachel Ray. Her show’s spokesperson is Charlie Dougiello. He said Starr is a pleasure and a professional.
Fearne Cotton
Fearne can only be described as effervescent. Her bubbly charm has landed her an excellent career move. Twenty five year old Cotton is in LA to prepare for an American two hour long special. It is called The Guinness Book of World Records – Live. The show will be aired on Sunday in the United States. A close friend of Fearne’s said ‘it was a dream come true’ for the London beauty. Her local presenting roles have made her a well-known face in the UK.

The TV host Cat Deely has already made a name for herself in the United States. This Birmingham native was enticed from the UK to be the front person for a new live show. The opportunities for UK show presenters are broadening and the demand in the United States is growing. This may be the beginning of many good deals for Fearne and other UK presenters.
