The Never Ending Story of George Michael

A multitude of fans around the world are delighted to hear that George Michael will soon be in print. The superstar has signed a deal with HarperCollins to write his autobiography. HarperCollins Publishers Worldwide are aware they have picked a winner. The international entertainer has led a colourful life in and out of the public eye. It would be an understatement to say that fans the world over are fascinated with his life.

The tentative date set for the publication of the long awaited book is 2009. George Michael’s life story is considered to be one of the most exciting. This pop legend has never written any of his memoirs and the public is hungry for the details. Any information published has been via media coverage or interviews. There has never been a printed version approved and written by Michael.

The deal with HarperCollins Publishers Worldwide was agreed to by their Managing Director Belinda Budge. She is the head of Harper Nonfiction UK. Michael’s side was championed by his UK co-manager Andy Stephens. It has been called the biggest book deal in UK publishing. The book’s world rights are held by Harper. The George Michael autobiography will be published in hardcopy and e-book form. The following countries have HarperCollins publishers for this deal:

    • United States
    • New Zealand
    • Australia
    • Canada
    • India
    • UK

Michael first hit the headlines as a member of the group Wham! It was obvious then that this entertainer had remarkable flair. The group came up with a sound that captured the spirit of the times. Their music was catchy and carefree. The eighties proved to be an era that launched the sound of Wham! Their songs made many happy memories for that generation. Some of their most memorable hits before George Michael went solo were:
    • Wake Me Up Before You Go Go
    • Careless Whisper
    • Young Guns

Now at the age of 44, Michael is ready to tell his story.  According to his publisher HarperCollins, Michael will not request a ghostwriter.  The entertainer will write the book by himself.  His manager Andy Stephens has stated that George will keep nothing back.  The reason he gave is because ‘people aren’t stupid’.  Fans will be able to distinguish between what the press publishes and what is the truth.

This megastar’s life has not been a perfect bed of roses.  His fans were fascinated when Michael was arrested for committing a lewd act in public.  Then he received a sentence of one hundred hours of community service.  He later pled guilty to driving in an unfit state.  The star’s license was suspended for two full years.  On the other hand, George Michael is heavily involved in charities such as Live Aid.  He has displayed a great sense of caring for the disadvantaged.

The controversial UK entertainer is to be well and truly in the public eye once again.  On the 31 January 2008 Michael will be appearing in the American television drama Eli Stone.  The series was created by Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlani.  It will be produced by ABC Television Studio.  The series will also be aired in:

    • Australia (Channel Seven)
    • Canada (CTV)
    • Spain (Antena 3)

So influential is George Michael’s music that each episode will be named after one of his songs.
