Las Vegas Hotels - The
Luxor
The breathtaking
architecture of the Luxor Hotel makes it one of the most
popular hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. What else does this

Located on the south end
of the Las Vegas Strip, the Luxor Hotel's unique
architecture makes it one of the most recognised spots in
the city. The Luxor houses its guest rooms in a hollow
pyramid-shaped tower and visitors are treated to an ancient
Egyptian theme from the moment that they enter the doors of
this exciting hotel. Created by world-renowned hotel
designer, Veldon Simpson, the hotel is a tourist attraction

The Luxor was one of Las
Vegas' first themed mega-resorts. Ground was broken for the
hotel in 1991 when the Mandalay Resort Group started
construction on the Luxor and two other hotels flanking it
on both sides – the Excalibur and the Mandalay Bay. In
1994, MGM Mirage purchased the Mandalay Resort Group and
thus the three hotels.
Besides its striking
architecture, the Luxor is probably best known for its
famous spotlight that points directly upwards and is
arguably the brightest light beam in the world. So bright is
this light, that it can be seen from everywhere in the Vegas
Valley at night, making the hotel almost impossible to
miss.
Hotel guests are housed in
true Egyptian style within the 30 story black glass pyramid.
Luxury rooms surround a 29 million cubic feet atrium and
guests travel to their rooms using inclinators in pampered
pharaoh style.
Being a mega-resort, the
Luxor puts its guests' entertainment at the top of its
priority list. There is nothing that this hotel does not
offer – from top shows to an exciting 120,000 square
foot casino that features a poker room and other popular
casino games. Enormously popular live shows grace the stages
of the Luxor Theatre, including one of the longest-running
Vegas shows, the Blue Man Group which attracted audiences
for five solid years. Guests can also enjoy the hotel's IMAX
theatre, including a motion simulator ride that takes guests
on a virtual archaeological dig – a continuation of the
ever-present ancient Egyptian theme.

guests can enjoy an impressive selection of gourmet
delights. From the spectacular Luxor Steak House to the more
family-oriented themed Pharaoh's Pheast Buffet, diners can
